SEXUAL ASSAULT PROGRAM

YWCA Kalamazoo’s Sexual Assault Program supports survivors of sexual assault from their emergency-immediate needs to future safety plans.

Program components for the Sexual Assault Program are:

Advocacy

YWCA Kalamazoo has dedicated staff members to work individually with survivors of sexual assault to assist them with their healing process. Advocates meet with survivors to discuss current needs and to refer them to resources and services throughout the community. Additionally, advocates assist with safety planning, court appearance, filling protective orders etc. Please contact our crisis line at (269) 385-3587 for more information.

Counseling

YWCA Kalamazoo is dedicated to promoting healing of survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking. Victim Services provides free, one-on-one counseling and victim advocacy to sexual assault, domestic violence, and human trafficking survivors. Please contact our crisis line at (269) 385-3587 for more information.

Sexual Assault Nurse Exam

YWCA Kalamazoo is the only provider of Sexual Assault Nurse Exams (SANE) in the county. We offer highly trained, specialized and consistent service delivery to rape victims/survivors ages 13 and older through a medical forensic examination done in a non-hospital environment, on-site at the YWCA Kalamazoo. For emergency medical situations, our SANE nurses will conduct exams at area hospitals. SANEs are free to all survivors of sexual assault. Please contact our crisis line at (269) 385-3587 for more information.
